According to The Charlotte Observer, Robinson overcame Democratic state Rep. Yvonne Lewis Holley—a Black woman who also would have won the honor of being the state’s first Black lieutenant governor—52% to 48%.
Robinson, a Greensboro native, first made waves back in 2018 when he addressed the Greensboro City Council with pro-gun remarks.
“It seems like every time we have one of these shootings… you wanna turn around and restrict my right… to buy a firearm,” Robinson told the council at the time. “I’m here to stand up for the law-abiding citizens of this community.”
