Pro-Second Amendment Republican Becomes North Carolina’s First Black Lt. Governor

According to The Charlotte Observer, Robinson overcame Democratic state Rep. Yvonne Lewis Holley—a Black woman who also would have won the honor of being the state’s first Black lieutenant governor—52% to 48%.

Robinson, a Greensboro native, first made waves back in 2018 when he addressed the Greensboro City Council with pro-gun remarks.

“It seems like every time we have one of these shootings… you wanna turn around and restrict my right… to buy a firearm,” Robinson told the council at the time. “I’m here to stand up for the law-abiding citizens of this community.”
